Dallas concludes road swing in LA

Dallas won the first two games of its swing, in Anaheim and San Jose, before getting bested by Phoenix, 5-2, on Thursday. Steve Reinprecht scored twice and Ed Jovanovski posted a goal and two assists to pace the Coyotes.

Brenden Morrow and Stephane Robidas scored for Dallas, which lost for the fourth time in its last six games overall. Marty Turco looked shaky between the pipes for Dallas and ended with 26 saves against 31 shots.

One game after passing Phil Housley for the points lead among U.S.-born skaters with 1,233 career points, Mike Modano was held off the stat sheet against Phoenix.

The Stars are 4-4-1 on the road and next begin a five-game homestand against San Jose on Wednesday.

The well-rested Kings, who have been off for a week, bring a 5-5-0 home mark into tonight's game, and were defeated in the Staples Center on Saturday, 3-1, by San Jose.

Brad Stuart scored the lone goal, while Jason LaBarbera allowed three goals on 28 shots for the Kings, who posted a 5-2 victory in San Jose on Friday night in the front end of the home-and-home series.

Forward Kyle Calder missed his second straight game due to a fractured left thumb that landed him on injured reserve.

Los Angeles hits the road to battle the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.

The Stars won nine in a row over the Kings, including all eight matchups last year, before falling to the club in Los Angeles on October 25. That victory for LA halted a four-game series home losing streak.
