11/10/2007 - Liverpool, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Fernando Torres came on as a second- half substitute on Saturday at Anfield and scored in the 81st minute before Steven Gerrard converted from the penalty spot to give Liverpool a 2-0 win over Fulham.
It looked for much of the game like Liverpool was headed for another scoreless draw, which the club has done three times already this season.
Peter Crouch had the best chance of the first half as he sent a glancing header off the crossbar in stoppage time, and Fulham keeper Antti Niemi did well to keep the home side off the scoreboard early in the second half.
Niemi was called upon to make a good reaction stop on Liverpool's Fabio Aurelio when the defender curled a free kick past the wall, and he then did a nice job of tipping an Andriy Voronin effort over the crossbar.
Yossi Benayoun scored three goals in Liverpool's 8-0 pounding of Besiktas in the Champions League on Tuesday, but he was denied as well by Niemi as the keeper got up and tipped the ball away before it could get to the upper corner.
Torres came on in the 70th minute replacing Voronin, and he got Liverpool on the scoreboard 11 minutes later.
It was an innocent looking play that started with Liverpool keeper Jose Reina clearing the ball out of the back. Torres got under the long ball and brought it down off his chest. He then carried the ball into the box and cut it back to avoid a defender. The Spaniard finished off the play by driving the ball into the lower right corner to put the Reds ahead.
Gerrard then gave the hosts an insurance tally four minutes later when he converted from the penalty spot after Crouch was tripped up inside the box by Fulham's Carlos Bocanegra.
In Saturday's other EPL contests, James Milner helped Newcastle earn a 1-1 draw with Sunderland as he scored in the 65th minute, while Derby's struggles continued in a big way as West Ham got two goals from Lee Bowyer in a 5-0 thrashing of the last-place club.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."

Brandon Roy Favorite to Win 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year
Portland TrailBlazer’s guard, Brandon Roy, is MySportsbook.com’s overwhelming favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year odds.
Despite missing 20 games due to an injury earlier this season, Roy has definitely put up the best numbers of his 1st year peers. In 32 games, Roy is averaging 15.3 PPG, 4.2 boards and 3.5 assists in over 33 minutes of play per game. While most rookies breakdown as the season progresses (see Morrison), Roy is only getting stronger as his playing time and scoring average has increased each month.
With 30 or so games left in the regular season, Roy isn’t a lock for the award by any means. Other rookies are putting together some pretty impressive campaigns and a few could give Roy a run for the award with increased playing time. Heading the list is first pick, Andrea Bargnani of the Toronto Raptors. Even though he has started only two games all season, Bargnani is averaging 10.3 PPPG while shooting 35% from deep.
Randy Foye of the Minnesota Timberwolves could be set to give Roy the best competition NBA Rookie of the Year betting lines. With the benching of Mike James, Foye looks like he could be the starter in the T-Wolves backcourt for the rest of the season. So far, Foye has averaged 9 PPG and 2.4 assists in just under 21 minutes per game. With his new role of starter, Foye’s numbers will definitely increase. In his first game as the new starting guard this past Sunday, Foye had 10 points; five rebounds and 8 assists. More importantly, he logged 34 minutes of playing time; his third highest run of the season.
Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.
